The team from the College of Law – University of Baghdad participated in the first edition of the Arab Human Rights Court Competition, organized by the Training and Development Centre for Southwest Asia and the Arab Region under the United Nations, with the participation of more than 50 Arab universities in the written memorandum phase. Eleven teams qualified from this stage to the oral advocacy phase, which was held at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, with the College of Law team among the qualifiers.
The competition aims to raise awareness of human rights principles in the Arab world and to develop students’ skills in legal research, drafting memoranda, and oral advocacy before a virtual court simulating litigation procedures in human rights cases.

under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Nibras Ibrahim Muslim. The team delivered an impressive performance that reflected the college’s high academic standards and their ability to analyze complex cases within both the international and Arab human rights frameworks.
The Dean of the College of Law – University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ali Hadi Atiya, received the team members, praising their efforts and distinguished representation of the college in Arab academic forums. He emphasized the college administration’s continued support for students’ initiatives and activities that contribute to raising the college’s and university’s reputation in international academic circles.
The College of Law – University of Baghdad affirmed that participating in this competition aligns with its strategy to enhance the international academic presence of its students and to encourage their engagement with UN initiatives in the fields of justice and human rights.
